Up your's GM!

GM! Screw them! The pomposity of their hundred year reign is raining down upon them! What ye sow, ye shall reap! Oh, really? What’s good for GM is good for Amerika? Sound off. But for a few shining exceptions in the Cadillac line, and some very solid trucks in the GMC line, GM has been making the same cheap shoddy products for over 30 years. When the opportunity arose to shove the SUV down the consumers throat, it was mighty GM who led the way…with no thought of environmental, cultural, or economic cost! Damn the public, we’ll tell them what they want!

So when they realize the need to manufacture a respectably economic yet well built smaller automobile, what do they give the damned public? The Vega? The Cobalt?

GM finally saw the writing on the corporate wall with Oldsmobile. Redundant 20 years ago, why was it still flogged year after year until it’s last gasp? This isn’t your fathers Oldsmobile. This isn’t Oldsmobile.

Now, with bankruptcy looming, they are considering concentrating on three models, Chevy, Buick, Cadillac. They admit it now, 20 years too late! The average car-guy could have told them. It’s very simple. You don’t need all these carryovers, and Pontiac is just an Oldsmobile. Let it go.

GMC will make trucks. That’s what they do. Forget Chevy trucks. Call them GMC. Chevrolet should concentrate on the cheap entry level, yet “adequate” automobiles they’ve always been. Buick is a mid level, heavier, more substantial model line…as it’s always been. Cadillac should be built for the high end luxury car buyer. As it was, then forgot it's role throughout the 80’s and most of the 90’s, but has found it's way again. Leave it.

Build these 3 makes of cars within their respective image. Build the trucks and SUV’s by GMC. End redundancy. End model carry over. Don’t tart up one model line by sharing the same platform but changing the taillights, plastic chrome and wheels. Don’t . The public knows, and won't buy it.

It's EK, (ekonomy), not EEKonomy, or is it?

I'm sorry to hear about the layoffs at your job. The economy is going down and this time it's not only the working class. My 3 man shop is starting to see a slow down, a lot more than we anticipated for the "holidays". When the removals out do the installs 3 to 1, something's got to give. I'm short time, but I'm also the IT guy, so maybe that's a plus. I'd go part-time to keep a job right now....forget the bene's.

I don't know if I get a certain satisfaction out of seeing banker, broker, management, or any other upper class "suits" get the ax, but I must say learning to live below their means for them is a valuable lesson to be learned. Life in the fast lane can't last forever. I get weary of the class attitude with the private schools for Muffy and Jonathon, the payments on the Hummer, the condo share in Cabo, and the McMansion in the burb's. These people benefited most from the loose credit, so when the dam burst, they're the ones first hit. The "expert" economists have been preaching the trickle down theory for 30 years. Guess what? Ooops! Now they know what else trickles down.

Forget the "bubble", it's a busted dam. All over the world. Those that know how to survive will, those that don't won't. I can always rob banks. But which banks have the cash? Like the Depression era, you could walk into a bank now and they might be folding. Everybody's pointing their one finger at the other guy while the other guy has his hand out. Working class has to bail them out. Ain't gonna happen. We need a revolt. Maybe the election started something, 'cause that young lion has got one hell of a hard road ahead. He might be wishing he was back teaching before this is through! Who would want that job?

Adapt, adopt, overcome . Hey, at least we have motorbikes to relieve the stress! I'm going for a long ride Sunday. We need to hide and watch.

Hippies

Most of em' didn't do the drugs, the drugs did them. Somehow, somewhere, they became afraid. They bought into the myth of middle class 'Merka. Most of 'em succumbed to beer bellies, mini-vans, working for the man, worried about their mortgage in a ticky-tacky house in a boring housing development with winding cul-de-sac streets. Whats on their folded up minds isn't what the quality of life is anywhere else, only "I got mine, and how do I keep it going!!", are their "kids" doing drugs, and becoming wiggers, are they gonna get laid off down at the plant, what's on tv tonite, is it always bad news, is society really collapsing around us? These are the same ones brought us W, by listening to his handlers and fear mongers spout promises of a better life. And one they'll never attain since they're not a filthy rich corruptible politician/business man. Grass roots organization to them means there's no dandelions in the yard.. Yet some, a few, learned from that "70's Show, if you will, a worldly wisdom, some heard a song of the cosmos, so they practice what they preach. What's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding?
